Anastasia Beverly Hills "Contour Kit" Review and Demo

It has been a really long time since I have been really excited about a new product. I first saw a picture of this palette on Instagram and instantly I knew this was going to be a must in my makeup collection. I have nothing like it and I recently started to perfect the contouring technique. I was one of the lucky few that was able to order it the day it was released, I even ...

My Beauty Weapon Palette by Motives

dsc3279.jpg

I was contacted on Facebook by a representative of Motives Cosmetics and was offered a free sample of my chose. I have to admit that before that i had never heard of the brand. I decided to check out their website and see what kind of products they offered and I was surprised that Lala is also a representative for the brand. I decided to try the 'My Beauty Weapon" palette because it contains both matte and shimmer finished plus an absolutely drop dead gorgeous gunmetal glitter. I knew that this palette would be very versatile and something that I could use daily and easily create day or night looks. The palette also contains two lip glosses that are beautiful shades.

Image

You can see that the palette contains a great range of easy to use shades. Each shade has a letter next to it because as an extra perk to this palette it comes with a quick easy guide to help you create three easy looks, (Intense, Natural, and Smokey)

Image

On the inside flat of the palette you will see these guides to help you with placement of each shadow. They are easy to follow and give a good starting point of how to use the palette. Here are some swatches of all the shadows in the palette.

These are the shades for the "Smokey" section of the palette. I found the matte burgundy shade very helpful for defining my crease. The shimmery pink if the perfect neutral color for the entire lid or crease. I loved this matte Ivory shade for highlighting, over the entire lid and for blending.

Image

These are the shades for the "Natural" section palette. This gorgeous warm matte brown is perfect for the crease. The bronze shade is beautiful and very metallic. To be honest I didn't care for this hunter green eyeshadow, as you can see from the swatch that it's not pigmented or creamy. I wish I could swap this shade for something else because I can guarantee I'm never going to use it.

Image

These are the shades for the "Intense" section of the palette. You have your staple matte black and your frosty white eyeshadow but I have to tell you the star of this palette is the glittery gunmetal in the center. I was in awe of how sparkly this eyeshadow is! It looks like you literally have tiny little paparazzi's on your lid with all their flash bulbs going off. I love it! I even posted a short video on my Instagram to show everyone how intense the sparkle is.

These are the two lip glosses that are included in the palette. I think that both shades are very beautiful and pair very well with the eyeshadow shades that come in the palette. They are creamy, moisturizing, and not sticky.

This palette retails for $49.95. Overall I would recommend this palette, it is lightweight and very travel friendly. You can create various looks with this palette from day to night looks. I love that you get different finishes which bring more dimension to your looks. The packaging is not fancy at all it's just cardboard so if your into luxurious packaging, then this palette is not for you. I will be posting three looks that I created using this palette with a "Date Night" theme.  Keep your eye out for those for some great ideas if you already own this palette or are interested in this palette.

My Top 5 Favorite Sonia Kashuk Blushes

dsc3055.jpg

Sonia Kashuk blushes are among some of the best I have tried. She offers a ray of beautiful colors form soft peaches and nudes to vibrant hot pinks. Within her collection you will find mattes, shimmers, and creams there is definitely something for everyone. I love them all but if I had to narrow it down to only 5, here is what they would be.

Glow, Glisten, Flushed, Sunset, Petal

Here is one of the latest products form Sonia Kashuk. Sonia launched her new "Chic Luminosity Bronzer/Blush Duo" ($12.99) this Spring as part of her Spring Collection for Target. I was very excited to pick these up for the shimmer finish. Up until Spring Sonia had matte or cream blush finishes. I have to say I'm loving the new packaging and formulas. This color is so soft and subtle perfect for everyday or night! The formula can easily be built up to the intensity that you want. I also absolutely adore the color, soft light peach with pink undertones.

Image

"Glisten" will give a very natural looking flush. I love to wear this color for days that I'm running out the door and want to give my skin that instant pick me up. What I also love about these new blush and bronzer duos is that the formula is long lasting, up to 12 hours! Also you have the perk of having an amazing bronzer to go along with your favorite blush.

Image

If you like pops of color then "flushed" ($8.99) is the color for you! I know it may look intense in the pan but it's actually very wearable once applied. This blush is a matte formula and it very easy to build up to the intensity you desire. You can be as subtle or bold as you desire. This color is youth in a pan, it gives you that rosy cheek that children get from playing in the yard.

For the days you want to look more chic "sunset" ($8.99) is a great alternative to pink. I love to mix it up once in a while. I adore this color! It gives your skin warmth and color at the same time. This is also a matte formula, which gives you more control on where you want to place your highlight. It's always great to have different types of finishes to give you a broader range of looks you can create.

Image

Last but not least is "Petal" ($9.89) a cream blush. This color is absolutely perfect! I love the natural flush it gives me. I love Sonia's formula, the cream feels light weight and velvety. I have tried cream blushes in the past that were very thick and sticky which made them very difficult to blend. This are easy to pop on with your fingers and build. I love how easy they are to use and can cut down the time it takes you to get ready in the morning. Great for all you busy ladies on the go! Let me know in the comments below which Sonia Kashuk blushes are your favorite! I would love to hear them!
